For starters, we use heavier construction fabrics than most packs on the market.  1000 Denier fabric is super durable, and the heaviest out there.  

We then laminate that fabric to a brushed poly RealTree AP camo for the exterior.  This fabric resists burrs, and is very silent in the field.  It will not freeze and remains silent in cold weather.    

We reduce weight by using soft 2" webbing for the shoulder straps (padded straps are not needed for hunting packs - they are a big problem - big padded shoulder straps both prevent free movement and contribute to a poor gun mount). 

We further save weight by avoiding rigid waist bands.  Why?  Because again they prevent movement and unless you are hauling 140 pounds of gear, you don't need them.  They are not a good feature for a hunting pack, they are a carryover from the camping industry.

(Hey, if you want to pack in 140 pounds of gear and accessories to a base camp, you should consider owning a mule.)
