Nokia - "Stop - Not Charging" errors  E-mail
Some Nokia phones will give a "STOP - NOT CHARGING" error. This is actually not a problem with the SideWinder, just the use of it. Here is what happens and why - (and how to fix it.)

Issue #1
This happens when you crank the SideWinder too slowly. While the SideWinder is voltage regulated - that means you can't burn out your phone no matter how hard you crank the handle - you can go so slow that you don't generate much voltage.

The phone is seeing this low voltage coming in the charging port and thinks the charger is not working.

The solution is to turn the SideWinder handle at the recommended 2 revolutions per second. This will put out maximum charging and a nice, steady current.

Simply clear the error from your phone by unplugging the cable, and start again.

Issue #2
You get the "stop not charging" error immediately upon plugging in the SideWinder's charging cable into your phone.

Essentially the same thing is happening here, but you have a small charge built up in the SideWinder's supercapacitor (the part that stores energy to run the LED light) and when you plug the cable in, that small current is transmitted to the phone.

The solution here is to plug in the cable and go - just start charging right away.

This should clear things up - please post or call us if you still have problems.
